Pre-order on IndieGoGo!

The book is now ready for pre-order over at IndieGoGo. We sold 30 books in the first 24 hours, which is awesome.

We are especially happy that several people have gone for the perk International Solidarity, an option where you can buy a book for yourself and give one to a larper in the growing communities in countries where this book is outragesly expencive, like Belarus, Lebanon and Palestine.

Go get yourself a copy!

Report from the third writing workshop: Strawberries and more finished games!

The third writing workshop for the book took place at Mølleparken on the 22nd and 23rd of June. Again a bunch of happy larp designers gathered to continue the work on turning their larps into playable scripts. The manuscripts are taking form, and we are truly enjoying the process.

Again, it was a productive and inspiring two-day workshop.

Klassefesten is getting along nicely, even though it requires patience to translate all of those awkward teenage characters. We got work done on Hug Street, a game of alternative economics, the murder mystery End Game and the apocalyptic and claustrophobic Sarkofag. And we are pushing the more lighthearted games A Pair of Tarts, What Happened at Lanzarote and The Hirelings even further towards being finished products.

Even though the weather didn't agree with us, we decided that it is summer and strawberry time.

Last weekend, some of the writers in our project went to a small gathering called PlenCon, where we got the opportunity to play test The Hirelings, which was needed since it has changed a lot from it's original form. We tested it with nine players, and we are truly proud to include it in the book. In addition to using really interesting techniques for both character building and gameplay, it was so much fun!

Report from the second workshop

On the 8th and 9th of June we conducted our second writing workshop. With even more people and bigger localities, the workshop again was a success. The localities allowed us to split up when needed, and work together when needed, and it was both fun and educating.

We got a lot of work done during the two days.  Hug Street and A Pair of Tarts were finished and ready for editing, and we are happy to see that the game The Hirelings went from 0 to almost ready, after Ole Peder and Håken got a brilliant idea in how to adapt their original game to a format closer to freeform. Fade to Gray is also close to being finished, and so is What Happened at Lanzarote. After the workshop on Saturday most of us went to the "Laivmekketreff", a forum for larp organizers discussing different issues that arises when designing, organizing and producing larp. Bringing our perspectives from the workshop was fruitful.

The feedback from the participants tells us that the format really works. Writing together with the opportunity of getting and giving instant feedback is social, inspiring and efficient. It also gave room for interesting discussions about larpscripts and the short format of The Larp Factory. We are all reallylooking forward to the the next workshop on the 22nd and the 23rd of June.

A short report from the first workshop

We have started for real! The very first workshop weekend for the Larpfactory Book Project was held on the 25th and 26th of May, and it was a success. We got a lot of work done, and had everybody had a good time too!

After two days of writing we had a close to finished first draft of A Pair of Tarts (we started from scratch), we had gotten a long way on the translation of Klassefesten, and Sluttspill and Love in the Time of Debasement are coming along nicely. Our hand-out-text Writing a larp script proved very helpful, and so was the fact that we could use each other for inspiration, help and input along the writing process.

The weather was sunny and summery, and we decided on Saturday to have lunch outside, including strawberries for that summer feeling.  It was so delightful that we ended up working outside until our computers started to run out of power, and after we finished the work session we all went for a barbecue in the park.

We can't wait to repeat the success this weekend!

Next workshop is this weekend, 8th and 9th of June, in Sagveien 17/Mølleparken 4. Both days from 12:00.
